Core Functions

The core functions of the Department are:

  • Provision of macroeconomic and real sector policy analysis services;
  • Coordination of regional and international economic integration programmes;
  • Management and administration of Economic Common Service;
  • Coordination of government-wide monitoring and evaluation of economic and development projects, programmes, policies and strategies;
  • Coordination of vulnerability assessment including food security for humanitarian response planning, resilience building and implementation of long term development initiatives;
  • Management of the Public Sector Investment Program (PSIP);
  • Provision of professional advice and inform the formulation and implementation of development related policies; and
  • Provision of policy guidance to relevant stakeholders and coordinate the overall design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of poverty reduction and social protection programmes.
